Healthy Patient Meals Cater to Individual Needs
The goal at University Hospitals Ahuja Medical Center is to provide delicious, healthy food to patients. We offer:
- An emphasis on fresh, local produce
- Healthy cooking methods—no deep-fried items and no trans-fats
- Low-fat desserts
Patient Meals Any Time
The At-Your-Request Room Service program is all about convenience for patients. The individual chooses the meal time. Orders can be placed any time between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. UH Ahuja Medical Center staff delivers the meal within 35 minutes.
The overnight menu accommodates dining needs between 8 p.m. and 7 a.m. Patients may also order several meals in advance.
Kosher and gluten-free selections are available. A patient’s nurse or nutrition assistant can assist the individual with his or her special dietary needs.
Visitors can also take advantage of room service and eat with the patient. Guests can prepurchase meal credits in the Café. Simply go to any cashier and ask for a $6.50 guest tray. After paying with cash or credit card, be sure to keep the receipt. With each guest tray purchased, the visitor can order a meal through At-Your-Request Room Service, just as a patient would. When the meal is delivered, the receipt is exchanged for the guest tray.
Kosher menus are available upon request. The Cleveland Bikur Cholim organization operates a Kosher Hospitality Room on the first floor of UH Ahuja Medical Center. The hospitality room offers kosher snacks, microwaveable meals, beverages and a place for quiet reflection.
