Focuses on orthopedic rehabilitation of the upper quarter including the shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand following surgery, injury, or disease. Custom thermoplastic splints are fabricated for a wide range of problems including post-surgical positioning and protection, resting splints for arthritis, fracture bracing, and dynamic and static splints to improve range of motion for the stiff joint.
Programs specific to each client are prescribed including strengthening and flexibility, modalities, joint protection, postural reeducation, wound care, scar desensitization, and improving body mechanics to decrease pain during activity.
Certified Hand Therapist (CHT)
A certified hand therapist is a physical or occupational therapist who has passed the CHT exam and specializes in rehabilitation of the shoulder, elbow, wrist, and hand. CHTs are qualified to treat complex injuries of the upper extremity and provide rehabilitation following surgical repair.
