Division of Pediatric Rheumatology

The pediatric rheumatologists at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital provide the evaluation and treatment of musculoskeletal complaints including autoimmune, inflammatory and bone diseases such as:

  • Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis
  • Systemic Lupus Erythematosus
  • Mixed Connective Tissue Disease
  • Juvenile Dermatomyositis
  • Spondyloarthropathy
  • Vasculitis
  • Osteoporosis
  • Collaboration in monitoring immunosuppressive therapy for auto immune eye and ear disease

Consultative services to primary care physicians are also available for non-inflammatory conditions such as fibromyalgia, patellofemoral syndrome, and hypermobility syndrome.

The rheumatologists serve as resource to pediatricians who may wish assistance in evaluating children with abnormal inflammatory laboratories and/or detectable autoantibodies. Two of our staff are board-certified in adult rheumatology. This unique combination of expertise is especially helpful in providing uninterrupted care to adolescents with autoimmune diseases as they mature into adulthood.
